Chapter 3: A new life
A baby swan was floating on a lake alone, he hears a voice from the sky, the voice said.
I am not the sky, this is not my voice,
I am not real, I am not unreal.
I do not have a body, but I have one,
I am infinite, but I do not exist.
I am consciousness in Maya.
The 4-year-old boy wakes up in the middle of the night, confused as he dreamt himself as the baby swan, wakes his parents up, and asks,
Who am I, how do I know,
What am I, I'd like to know.
Uncover my past, I cannot see,
I do not see, how I came to be.
The mother wakes up, takes her son on her lap, holds him closer to her heart, she begins to tell a story to put her son to sleep.
The answers you seek, I may not know,
But with love, together we can flow.
I do know a part of your tale,
A meaning to your seeking soul.
Close you eyes, let the wind blow,
Let the water, take you in it's flow.
Your story holds the answers you seek,
Close your eyes and let the story speak.
Father gets up to hold his wife and son in his arms, puts his head on wife's shoulder, leans towards his son's face, and continues to tell the story.
Many years passed,
Moving on is what we decided.
It was hard to accept,
We'd never have a child, we thought.
In my dream, I met many children,
It was the beginning of a story unwritten.
When you hugged me without any fear,
My heart felt the answers to my prayer.
The boy is in awe hearing the beginning of his life, but still confused about his dream, he humbly speaks,
But, what is a dream, and what is true,
Why not dream to be true?
I was a swan and I am a boy,
Are both to be true?
What is all this and, What is life?
What is a miracle, and what is a purpose?
What are you, and what am I?
Who are you, and who am I?
Father takes a deep breath, thinks thoughtfully for a few seconds, and exhales, the boy's hair was scattered, and he shivers for a second, but father holds both of them a bit tighter and says,
Let love and compassion be your guiding light,
Embrace the present, and do not fight.
Love everyone, as much as you love yourself,
Love a little more, if you love yourself less.
A miracle is your breath,
Life's purpose is to be with the light.
Be here and now, with love in sight,
Seek the truth, in the depths of night.
I am you, and you are me.
I am everything and nothing,
You were a swan and you are a boy,
The form changes, but not the essence.
Both father and mother begin to sing Madalasa Upadesha,
Shuddhosi buddhosi niranjanosi
samsara maya parivarjitosi
samsara svapnam tyaja moha nidram
mandalasollapamuvacha putram
You are forever pure. You are forever true.
And the dream of this world can never touch you.
So give up your attachment, and give up your confusion.
And fly to that space that's beyond all illusion.
This is a part of the book that I am writing for my son, whose name is Ishaan Inlakesh. Inlakesh means I am you, You are me, in mayan language, A beautiful philosophy. I named him to remember that I should never forget that we are all one and the same, something that I personally experienced one day.
The name of the book is I am you, You are me.
